I think 1 gigahertz is not enough speed . 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit) ram is a basic requirement of Windows 8 but I think it is not appropriate speed for multitasking and browsing the internet . 2 gigabytes (GB) (32-bit) or 3GB (64-bit) I think this is the best solution for normal use . There is a very important thing that You need a good and supported video card . As per Microsoft , you need Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with wddm driver .

Disabling the Search Indexing Feature in Windows 8

By default the power plan in Windows 8 is set for a " balanced performance " with energy consumption on hardware . Click on battery icon on taskbar and click on " More power options " and activate the " High performance " feature .

Deactivate Unwanted Startup features and programs

Many startup features and programs , can slow the system speed . So deactivate all of them . Open up " Task manager " and disable feature that which you want .
